Based on a true story, Miral recalls the life of young lady who grew up in a Palestinian orphanage and must cope with the issues and struggles of her people, community and the world she is thrust into after the Arab-Israeli war. Miral is politically charged at times, however, fine performances are delivered by Willem Dafoe as Colonel Eddie and Freida Pinto playing the title role. Directed by Julian Schnabel, Miran also stars Hiam Abbass, Vanessa Redgrave, Yasmine Elmasri and Alexander Siddig. Miral is rated R for violence and, patron be advised that Miral contains a sexual assault scene.
