Holiday Weekend Releases

The weekend starts early this holiday season as most films will be hitting the theaters on Wednesday. This extended weekend utilizes the extra time off for most people, and gives moviegoers the chance to catch up on new releases. What’s even better is that this particular weekend has something for everyone with an action film, a family animated film, a romantic comedy and a musical drama. These films are very well done and sure to thoroughly entertain the audiences.

Tangled is one of the new releases this Wednesday that essentially anyone can enjoy. This Disney animated film features the voice work of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. This movie is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of Rapunzel and revolves around Rapunzel herself. In this film, Rapunzel has been stolen from her parents castle as an infant, and locked away in a tower for 18 years. Alone and isolated, Princess Rapunzel happens to notice a handsome bandit pass by her tower. This Princess, with extremely long golden hair, instantly falls in love and decides to escape from her tower to find him. This won’t be easy though, as her captures soon follow. This charming Disney film is full of fun and adventure; a real pleasure for the whole family.

Also new to theaters this Wednesday is the musical drama Burlesque. Starring Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, Julianne Hough and Eric Dane, this film shines brilliantly. In this movie Tess, played by Cher, is an aging and retired dancer who owns the flashy Burlesque Lounge. This theater is experiencing hard times though, with a decline in audience members and varying personal problems among the dancers. To make matters worse, there is a snooping business man who has his eyes on buying this lounge which is already having financial issues. Fortunately, things seem to turn around when newcomer Ali, played by Aguilera, is hired to be a waitress. But Ali is not your ordinary waitress, and soon she realizes she has a love for burlesque. With amazing talent and a sensational voice, could Ali be the one to save this Lounge? This movie is full of glitz and glam with stunning characters, powerful voices and captivating dancing; a dazzling musical drama.

Love and Other Drugs is the romantic comedy coming to theaters Wednesday. This quirky film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway as Jamie and Maggie; two pharmaceutical salespeople. Maggie is an energetic, and on-the-go type of girl who doesn’t believe in long-lasting love. Jamie on the other hand, is more of a relaxed type of guy with smooth moves and general determination. So when these two complete opposites happen to cross paths one day, their lives will never be the same. After beginning a relationship together, Jamie and Maggie quickly realize how much they really do need love in their life and that it could be with each other. Do they both have what it takes to let themselves truly love someone? This beautiful film follows their relationship which involves various emotional, rousing and even hilarious moments; a fantastic romantic comedy.

Faster is the action film releasing this Wednesday starring Dwayne Johnson; formally known as The Rock. This action packed film follows Driver, played by Johnson, as he sets out on a determined mission. This mission is to avenge his brothers death that resulted from a double-crossing heist. After being in jail for 10 years, Driver is as passionate as ever about tracking down and killing all those responsible for this tragedy. This will not be easy though, as he is being tacked himself by his past girlfriend, a seasoned assassin and a veteran cop. This movie is packed with action from the opening scene ’till the very end. With stunning visuals, awesome fight scenes and amazing action, this film is a heart-pounding 95 minutes!

These new releases offer audiences a wonderful range of options, and since they are opening extra early you can catch them all before heading back.
Be sure to fill your Thanksgiving, extended weekend with these astounding films.
