Feel good films make a big splash at the box office, and Rio is one animated adventure with a wild comedy kick. Our hero is a domesticated macaw named Blu who asserts a few avian character flaws, namely he can’t fly. Smitten with his new birdie friend, Jewel, Blu makes his way to Rio de Janeiro on a rip roaring romantic journey with the love of his life. Rio was directed by Carlos Saldanha and is rated PG for mild crude humor. Voices include Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, Will I Am, Wanda Sykes and more. In addition, cool tunes are found on the Rio soundtrack to include Sergio Mendes, and this all-ages animation flick gets two thumbs up for laughs and non-stop entertainment.
