This moving story unfolds in the Great Depression era when young veterinarian student, Jacob Jankowski, is traumatized by the deaths of his parents. Left distraught and confused about the meaning of life, Jacob hops on a passing train to take him wherever it leads. Jacob’s journey takes him to a circus struggling to make it during The Great Depression and finds his calling in life as a veterinarian for the circus animals. Though he did not complete his medical training, Jacob impacts the circus characters with insight, wisdom and a special relationship with Rosie, an abused circus elephant afraid of her trainer. Jacob encounters love with a beautiful woman and learns more about himself than living his structured life at medical school. This inspiring drama was directed by Frances Lawrence and stars Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon and Cristoph Waltz. Water For Elephants is an excellent date movie and recommended for those who love and admire the sensitivity of animals.
