Ready for the Movies?

Are you ready to hit the theaters? With the films coming out this week, now is a great time to get in line for your ticket to entertainment. Some of the most talked about and previewed movies releasing soon are; You Again, Buried, and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. One comedy, one thriller, and one dramady; these three films will entice and captivate you while you let the world go by.

You Again boats an all-star cast with Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Betty White, and Odette Yustman. In this comedy directed by Andy Fickman; Marni, played by Bell, is upset when she finds out that her brother is about to marry Joanne, played by Yustman. Joanne is the high school bully from Marni’s past and she is not about to let her brother get trapped into his new fiance’s drama and lies. The battle begins between the two as they quickly learn that Gail, played by Curtis, and Aunt Ramona, played by Weaver, are also long time rivals. Brought together for the wedding, a long-standing feud is reignited and now there are two sets of ‘frienemies’ on the loose. Add Grandma Bunny, played by White, to this dis-FUN-ctional family, and things are about to get even feistier and funnier. These funny ladies are all able to steal the scenes and will have you laughing out loud at their crazy antics.

A good thriller that is soon to be released is Buried. This film stars Ryan Reynolds as Paul Conroy, a US contractor who is currently working in Iraq. Things seem to be going well for Paul when all of the sudden he is attacked by a group of Iraqis. When he finally awakes after the attack he becomes part of a horrible reality; being buried alive in a coffin. In a panic, Paul must rely on his instincts, his cell phone, and a lighter to find his way out of the coffin and to survival. Will he be able to escape his own death or will he succumb to his tomb? This well written thriller will engage you and keep you captivated through the whole piece; a very mind blowing and addictive new release.

If you would rather see a drama with humor then you need to check out the new Woody Allen dramady. You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is Allen’s new release that further proves his artistic influence and direction in cinema. In this film, Allen decides to follow two couples; Alfie, played by Anthony Hopkins, and Helena, played by Gemma Jones. These two characters are struggling to keep their marriage together, but things start to fall apart when Alfie decides he wants to reclaim his youth. Not sure where to go from here, Helena decides to follow the ramblings of a fortune teller and thus leaves reality behind. To make matters worse, the couples’ daughter Sally, played by Naomi Watts, and her husband Roy, played by Josh Brolin, are also having marital problems as well. Unhappy in their current state, both Sally and Roy look outside the marriage for love and passion. These two couples must decide if the deceitful path they are on is the right one, or if they are headed straight for trouble. This film gets to the heart of relationships and the lows that some of us experience in them; sure to keep you wondering what’s going to happen next.

All three of these films decide to jump outside the box and create interesting stories for us to be a part of. Step inside their world and experience the passion that comes with their lives, just don’t forget to leave yours behind. Whether you want a good laugh or a thought provoking film, one of these will fit you well. So, are you ready to hit the theater?!
